How to manage inactivated e-mail accounts in OS X

MailIconYosemiteXWhen you start a new job or join a new group, club, service, or other organization, you may be given an e-mail account to use with that service. You then may set this account up in Mail so you can access it quickly from your iOS and Mac OS devices, in addition to any Web client your provider may use. However, if you are terminated or otherwise leave your organization then access to new e-mail may be restricted and you will no longer be able to receive new messages. Continue reading

Fix VIP mailboxes not showing all messages in Mail

MailIconYosemiteXThe VIP mailbox in Apple’s Mail program should show messages from contacts that you flag as VIP; however, there are instances where messages from your designated VIPs will not show up, leaving this feature somewhat unreliable. Fix missing ‘New Message’ sound in Mail after upgrading to OS X 10.10.3

MailIconYosemiteXWhen you receive messages in Mail, you have the option of sounding an audio alert so you know new messages have arrived. However, after upgrading to OS X 10.10.3, you might find yourself in a situation where despite Mail otherwise operating normally, the alert sound you choose will not play, or may not play at all times. While not a problem that will affect the use of your Mac, it does put you at a slight inconvenience if you have grown accustomed to this sound for checking your mail. Continue reading
